It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for a Candid Conversation! In these episodes, we’ll cover life updates from the ranch (Natalie) and the farm (Tara), things we are currently obsessed with, community recipes, or industry news. In this episode of Candid Conversations: Inflation Reduction Act and Agriculture we cover:

  • Life updates from both Natalie and Tara

  • What Natalie and Tara are current coveting and this week it is the Wild West Kidz Books (discount below)

  • A candid conversation about the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act and how it works with Agriculture

  • Community Recipe: Homemade Butter Syrup

Farm and Ranch Updates

Natalie’s update from the last week includes her last-minute trip up to Canada because of her husband’s obsession with owning a cabin in Canada. That led to Natalie and her husband making a 48-hour round trip to check out a potential family cabin and it proved to be an adventure to get there. You listen to the full adventure in the first part of the podcast. Tara’s updates include how one of her daughters has been shadowing her husband around on the farm helping care for the cows and learned a tough farm lesson that all farm kids learn at some point.

Currently Coveting: Wild West Kidz Books

Natalie and Tara’s Currently Coveting this week is more of a small business shout-out for Wild West Kidz Books. The company is owned by Canadian native, Becky, and she creates books specifically for kids in the western industry while also instilling a love for reading. Wild West Kidz offers different book subscriptions for the whole family and you get sent books throughout the year. Tara’s kids LOVED their latest book box. They love the books so much that they have a discount code for you to save on your first box. Click the button below for more information.

Industry News: Inflation Reduction Act and Agriculture

Tara checks in for today’s industry news starting with the Inflation Reduction Act. She shares that this bill will give 40 billion dollars to agriculture throughout the country. The money will be given out to different organizations with different programs such as the USDA, the US Forest Service to try to reduce wildfires, and most recently drought relief in Arizona. Natalie tags in to mention that she is most excited about the conservation efforts that it will go to. Conservation is a big issue that Natalie is passionate about whether it’s for soil erosion, habitats for endangered species, or local pollinators. Along with everything mentioned above, there are several other sectors such as farmer’s debt that will also be included in this debt. Both ladies agreed that it’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out and moves forward.
