The possibilities are truly endless for how to make money online. A few of the most important things for you to keep in mind are what YOU actually want to do, what is aligned with your goals and strategy, don’t get lost in the comparison game of what everyone else is doing, and finally, be willing to change and adapt as your brand and goals change.

Ways I have made money online from most to least amount of money:

  • Speaking: panels, breakout sessions, keynote, MC

  • Sponsored blogs and social media posts/ Brand partnerships

  • Consulting

  • Online course

  • Coaching

  • Retreats

  • Apparel

  • Guest writer for ag publications

  • Instagram bonuses for Lives and Reels

  • Facebook video ads

  • Affiliates

  • Ads on my website

When I started sharing and monetizing online I originally started as a direct to beef consumer account. That is really where I learned to craft a story and create a strong visual and verbal brand. I sold product (aka beef) for 2 years and that was the only way I monetized at first. After that I decided to step away from the beef business and start sharing my family story instead. When I did that I set up a YouTube Channel and started monetizing from that right away (this would be considered creator funds). I also started doing brand partnerships as a source of income too. While I didn’t maintain consistency on YouTube, I did with brand partnerships and that has been and continues to be a large portion of my income from online. I have also started a clothing line, hosted in person retreats, created an online course and spoken at conferences.

One piece of advice I have is that in the beginning it is good to say “yes” to opportunities and try things out to see how you want to spend your time with your online business - but don’t spread yourself too thin and get too many things going. I learned very quickly that while it was good to be diversified, it was also a challenge. We only have so much time and energy and I know some of my businesses suffered because I was trying to devote my attention to too many things.
